Personally yes .. way more thought and effort involved and you can tailor the card to the person .... if someone does it for me I always keep it and treasure it (and them for doing it) .. just wish I was talented enough to return the favour :)

Well there are two ways of looking at it. One it's nice as the person has gone to some time and effort to make the card, whilst on the other hand it's someone being a cheap skate. At work a few years ago a guy just folded some paper and drew a biro tree on the front as the "christmas card" - that's not exactly nicer to receive.
However from a loved one, I think if the time and effort is clearly put in i'd prefer it.

Hand-made cards are a always a very special gift. To actually take the time and effort to make a card with a certain someone in mind means so much. The person will never forget that lovely gesture

I love to give and receive hand made cards. It doesn't matter if you're three or thirty, it is very cool for somebody to think enough of you to take the time to make you a card.

When I make cards, I don't use kits or anything like that, but I also stay away from the kind of cards I can easily generate on the computer.

I buy really great paper; I write my thoughts or a poem, share myself with the recipient; decorate with natural enhancers like dried flower petals or some artwork of my own...sometimes, if it's really, really special, I include a tiny lock of my hair, braided and tied with a pretty ribbon.

Have fun with your creativity and share it with others. They will love the thought and care you put into their one of a kind card.

Good luck!

Pasha :)

God every time without a doubt. The person who made it has
a) Made a special effort for YOU
b) Got all the bits together
c) Agonised over the words
d) Probably spent more than a shop bought
Finally, a home made envelope is the tops cos they are a bugger to fold!!

It's always nice to receive cards, but hand-made ones are especially lovely :-)

home made are nicer BUT only if they really are hand-made, and NOT OUT OF A KIT or PACK. that really is naff. card should show thought + creativity + individuality which you don't use if you buy a card-making kit

Often they're much more expensive than a bought one. The kits you buy to make these cards are really pricey.

Yes I do, for any occasion. More thought has to go into them.
