Most likely it is your processor fan. Open the case and look for a fan about 3" x 3" see if it is spinning. You may be able to break it loose with canned air but I would recommend replacing it as soon as possible. Most likely you will have a few minutes when you first start it before it gets too hot and shuts down even if your fan isn't working. Copy your file to a removable media, floppy disk, usb thumb drive. You may not have time to burn to a cd until you get the fan replaced. You may be able to spin the fan with your finger and get it spinning again too, as long as it is working your processor should stay cool enough to get your file out.

I tried same your feeling, my graduation project was lost due to Harddisk failure, and I couldn't repair it!

but now I learned how to solve problems, first you got to take the harddisk out of your computer case, then install it as a slave into another computer, (caution: don't copy any thing on it or format it) then use
Getdataback or recovermyfiles, which can recover your deleted files, even if your partition are broke!, if you need more information about how to use these softwares, then just ask, I really would like to help you cause I really know what's the fealing of loosing a project!

Anything important I always back it up.

Were you using Word? Do you have it set up to do an automatic save every few minutes? If so, you might still have a copy there.
