Tons of fashion, oil, diamond, gold, plundered for her wealth. With out her genes there be no peanut butter. Micheal Jordan. During the Romans time it was said that something new came out of Africa everyday. The grief she was given she given us back. She's given us life. What a continent. The country Tanzania gives us Tanzanite. She given adventure, romance, and beautiful sites. But like everyone she has her bad days. Everyone want all these countries inside her to magical conform but this will never happen over night. She given strong women and strong men. In all she's given everything good and bad. If the scale was on how much damage she has given the rest of the world verse how much damage the rest of the world has given it would be different. After all She didn't drop a bomb on another continent. She didn't start a Continental war with the world. Her people did not leave their own continent and start the removal of the natives of their own land. She did not force another people in massive amounts of another continent to work in her lands as slaves.

She is not a continent that has slammed its will on other continents. Her countries didn't plunder the wealth of another continent. So what does Africa contribute to rest of the world. It contribute the opportunity to see man struggle to make himself better. The reminder that we can do more. The opportunity for greatness to come.

It would be useful if you differentiated between Africa as a whole and Sub-saharan africa. The advancements made by Ancient Egypt were enormous. In fact, Egypt was one of the most important centers of intellectual activity in the world from about 3200 BC untill about 1500 AD. To give you a few examples of Egypts contributions, the sail, the archimedes screw, papyrus, naturalistic art, the novel, possibly monotheism, certain strands of philosophy, public libraries, major damns, the nation state, the idea of a semi-divine human, anual records of weather conditions, labeling of goods, the steam engine and many other inovations were first used in Egypt.
As for the rest of North Africa, many great thinkers and invetions, especially in the ancient period, came from there. For example, glass was invented in, and St. Augustin the great theologian and Hannibal the great general both came from, what is now Libya.
As for Sub-Saharan africa, its contribution to modern civilisation are more modest. Since humans evolved to live in the Savanah conditions of Sub-Saharan Africa, very little technological adaptation was needed to sustain life there, unlike, say Iraq or Europe. However, such absolutely fundemental human inventions such as controlled fire, stone tools, bone and wood working and pottery are first attested to in Sub-Saharan Africa. During the medeival and early modern periods, very little learning came out of Sub-Saharan Africa, although there was an important university in Timbuktu which contributed to Islamic scholarship when Islamic culture was the most advanced in the world.
More recently, Africa has headed the anti-colonial movements of the 20th century which have removed one of humanity's greatest injustices - the European Empires. African civil rights movements, especially in South Africa, have inspired millions across the globe in their campaigns for equality and justice.

The first humans were 'African' who spread out across the globe; in that sense all humans owe a great deal to Africa. . For many reasons the continent has not contributed as much in the way of technology or science as say Europe, but there is more to life than technology. Currently Africa reminds us that we live in an unequal world and that rather than wallow smugly in our affluence we would feel better as humans if we did what we can to assist those who inhabit the 'homeland' to live more easily.

How about mankind itself (believed to have originated in Ethiopia or thereabouts)?

Agriculture? Paper (or at least its precursor papyrus)? The library?

Compared to that, what have you done for the world?
