Yes he died Monday morning. He was filming a shot of the Great Barrier Reef and a stingray stuck his spike right into his heart.

Yes! I saw it on my homepage about 2 hrs.ago and I'm still freaking out! As crazy as this man man was, I never thought he would be killed the way he was. He was on a "fun", but work, scuba diving trip. He was stabbed by a string ray in the chest. He was probably trying to grab it and saying to the camera's - "look at this beauty" never could that happen to him! I keep thinking... this is the guy that I expected to hear he died because the anti-venom they had wasn't enough before they could get him to a hospital - or - a croc. took his arm off at the shoulder and he bled to death. So crazy he died the way he did, it was an easy expidition for him, something he did for fun on a holiday! CRAZY! I can't even believe it! A wife and 2 kids. His family had to be scared on most all of his adventures, but not on this one, this was nothing for him. 44 yrs.old, gone

Yes read the news for facts not message boards. He got stung in the heart by a poison sting ray shooting a tv show. Its on yahoo news.

He did die sadly.
A freak accident in which a normally benign fish, a Stingray, speared him in the heart.
He leaves a young son.
Actually a very sad event.

diving off the coast of australia, filming. he was swimming too close to a school of sting rays. they're not usually aggressive but steve startled one of them and the stinger went straight into his heart. i believe he was out right away,as these stings do cause horrible pain. his was freaky as he was stung right into his heart. that's how big his heart was. God bless him and his family...

Yes, he did. In Australia and he was stung by a sting ray. I believe right in his heart.
