I'm just wondering if anyone knew. Does an editor manage articles and columns and an editor-in-chief the entire newspaper or magazine or ezine itself, from front cover to back cover, etc.?

An editor will actually edit.

An editor-in-chief is kind of like a supervisor for the editors, but does very little editing. Maybe only on controversial pieces.

Editors have the authority to rewrite stories submitted to them, but before it goes to press, it can again be changed ,by the one who has final say so as to what goes to print, the editor-in chief.
