Was blow drying my hair this morning and i didnt realise the cable was damaged. i accidently ended up touching my stomach with the live wire and ended up giving myself a bit of a shock. Thing is im six months pregnant and im a little worried it may of harmed my baby. Should i give my midwife a ring and ask for a check up or am i just being silly?

Ring her now. I was three mounth pregnant when i lost my baby after an electric shock.
Good luck. ( maybe the voltage wasn't so high, so you shouldn't worry until you talk to a specialist)

If the shock you experienced wasn't enough to jolt you or 'cause you any pain, then it is unlikely the fetus experienced anything worse than what you did.

It may put your mind at rest to call your midwife, but there is no reason to worry. Also, if there was any damage there is nothing you can do about it.

If YOU feel injured or ill as a result of the shock then go to the emergency room.

Not the place to ask a medical question like this. Ask the doctor/ midwife.
As an electrician, i would *guess* it would not be a problem for the baby. the shock usually take s the path of least restistance, and the baby would be proitected by the amniotic fluid.

Now go and ring the midwife

If you are still feeling the baby move then everything is probably ok. To ease your mind call the midwife, because you being worked up about it is not good for the baby.

Yes, you should definitely call your midwife right NOW if you are at all worried about anything.
She will tell you to go to the hospital and might arrange this for you.
You will probably have an ultrasound just to put your mind at rest.
But I'm sure everything is OK.

I am an electrician and mother of 4. You and baby are okay. The breaker for the electricity would of turned off before it would of came even close to hurting you or baby. Just drink a cup of water and sit down and calm down... Now lets think about where to buy another hair dryer. Shopping! Yeah!

Go get a check up and never ever worry about being silly ever again.

It is always important to get things checked out, no matter what.

Nobody will think you are being silly.

To give yourself piece of mind you can call her . I am sure that your baby is just fine he/she is very well protected inside of the womb and in order for the baby to be afftected you would of had to had a bad jolt but, throw the blow dryer away and get a new one. Good luck and best wishes.
