i will never forget the image of steve irwin talking to the camera while sharks were in a feeding frenzy all around him while he stood in the water...the guy was a crazy kook but he was fascinating, funny and very entertaining...i kind of felt one day his luck would run out the way he took risks dealing with wildlife but i would never have guessed it would take a stingray to be the culprit....my condolences to his friends and family....he was one of a kind and his legacy will continue as his shows run on animal planet

It's with great sadness that I have read about his death.

His passion and cheerfulness was felt through the TV screen. I enjoyed watching his programs and listen to him talking about the wildlife.
It is one of natures bitter ironies that he falls victim to a stingray who is not aggressive and, mostly, not even lethal. My sympathies and condoelences goes out to Mr Irwins family and friends. Let us hope that his spirit won't leave Australia Zoo and we won't forget his message to us.

I was really Shocked when I heard the news!!

My prayers go out to his family and his close friends.

He has contributed SO much to the animal world. His laughter and love of life, as well as his educational endeavors have touched millions.

He died doing what he loved. He will not be forgotten, and he will live on in spirit thru his Australia Zoo.
We will miss him!

Steve was a great role model for all animal loving kids and adults,he loved his family beyond belief and was a great Australian. He will be sorely missed. My kids keep seeing him on the TV tonight they are aged 4 and 3 and it broke my heart when I told them he's gone to heaven.,even though they dont really understand.

My prayers are with his wife and family.

It's sad. He had young kids too. But surely with his job it was only a matter of time? He only had one chance to get it wrong & he unfortunately did. At least he did what he enjoyed & seemed to live life to the fullest. He obviously knew the dangers that came with the job & still wanted to do it.

yeah man!! it was damn shocking news to hear.......i mean..u could see this guy almost everyday out there doin his bit for mother nature......and he worked pretty hard for it i bet.....plus...he even took those risks....and he would enjoy them...he'd actually come up with the most novel ways to teach people about wildlife, thanx to him that there are several prospective steve irwin's..whom he has inspired and so even after his sad demise his noble work would continue......my condolences to his family....HIS LEGACY WILL LIVE ON!!!!

It's sad, but I always felt like this would happen because sometimes he gets too close to animals that just want to be left alone.

it took me five seconds to actually register in my brain - i mean he was so full of life and happy it's hard to imagine that he's gone from the world. He was a nutter but he as very lovable, and i hope his wife and kids continue on with his work. He was one of only few people who wasn't interested in just promoting himself.
