What i know:
1. Porns and sex crimes simutaniously went up
Only in the US, where rape reporting just changed. Elsewhere rape went WAY down. There is a self-studied 90%+ connotation between porn up and rape down.
2. Sex offenders always have porn.
Sex offenders can also like porn. This isn't proof, government studys to prove its proof have all failed.
3. Violent porn causes sexual violence.
This should be a given... Anything next to violence is going to cause violence of some sort!
4. Who cares!, real women are humiliated/tortured.
Cartoon porn prevents all that.
Objectification - Sadly true. But overall, porn seems to be doing more good then bad. Lots of good things have side-effects. I want to know that most of porn is bad.
Porn makes phychos rape, porn should go away! Here's an analogy. People have an allergy to latex, latex makes them suffer. So should latex be outlawed? No, because latex does good too! Im stubborn about this point of view, so arguing is futile.

How would you feel if your Mother/sister/girlfriend/wife/daughter appeared in a porn movie/magazine/other?
Now, what if it were a budget flick being passed around the internet, obviously not legit, and said loved one had been missing for awhile? Yes, there are plenty of women out there willing... but what of those who are not? What of the women and children enslaves for such purposes... would you make their captors lives easier by making it acceptable to society?
Edit: Suffering an allergy, and suffering the pain of kisnap, rape, torture, and murder are rather different, don't you think?

Why this seems a futile arguement to you only makes one wonder that you are defending your own personal involvement on the subject. It will only be futile because of your own will to deny that it is an extremely pointless, self serving past time that defiles the existance of another human being. That is to say that another human being has to portray themselves as a sexual object who has no other skill other than to appear as such to people who look at porn. Afterall, such people would not be interested if they did not appear as they did. You have statistics that reflect absolutely nothing. You cannot possibly determine where the 'side effects' of porn start or end, which by the way cover more than rape and can be just as life long damaging. Are you suggesting that perversion can be controlled by the amount of porn one watches, so that our kids are safe as long as porn is about? You are basically describing an addiction of sorts. To keep steady with life, there needs to be a 'hit' of porn, a 'toke' whatever. Medicating ones self with a dose of porn is not being in control of yourself, nor does it have any intellectual content that inspires families and the community as a whole. It is a selfish fleshy desire that is derogatory to the willing and unwilling participants in every way. As humans we are meant for more than just to be a display for those who have no class or taste or respect for another human being or themselves. It is a purely self absorbed person who thinks that they have a God given right to observe others defiling themselves in the name of pleasure. It may not lead to rape, but it also doesn't lead to healthy, forfilling nuturing relationships with anyone who has anything to do with kids or other vulnerable targets. Instead of rape statistics, why not do a study on trust levels. I'm sure your arguement would be absolutely shattered with the results.

Well just like anything else! If you want it to not be a big deal and loose its interest because its main stream then just make it legal and common. Porn was pretty clandestine and risky when I was growing up. It was only for the dredges of scociety. This made it inticing and dangerous. Now its pretty common and for everyone. Sex is natural and everyone does it (some more than others). This holds true with all things. People want what they cant have. Its human nature.

I have to admit, I agree with you. Other than the religious standpoint, I cannot think of any reason why it is "bad". Unless of course the guy is REALLY hairy and nasty...then it is awful!
:)
Good luck in your research!
