You know, everyone has a choice. If you choose to join the military without thinking about it, then you are an idiot. So, assuming these warriors are not idiots, then they must have thought about it. In doing so, the thought must have crossed their mind that they just might have to go to a place where someone will be shooting at them, and they just might die. Yet they still chose to do this. They were not forced, there is no conscription. So do I feel bad, not really. Do I feel bad for there family, not really. When a woman marries a soldier she must have thought that he may have to go to war, and he may die. If she didn't then she's an idiot. War is always serious business. The military pays their soldiers, provides them with housing, pays for school and if your smart puts you through University. But with the pro's there are the con's, namely....dying! Everyone dies. The ironic thing is most of the soldiers I know who have been wounded want to go back, because to pull out now would mean their comrades would have died for nothing, and that's more insulting than dying in the first place.

You think that things are just starting to get serious now?!?! Do you know how many Britons, Canadians and Americans have been killed in Afghanistan and Iraq since this conflict began (not to mention troops of other countries)? Hundreds and hundreds. Thousands more have been wounded or become ill. This situation has been serious from the first day of conflict. Things can only get worse until every single Western soldier is brought home from these war zones. We can thank George W. Bush and Tony Blair for every life lost. When will those two be sending their own children or grandchildren to fight there (never, I bet)?!?!

If ALL the dead British, Iraqi, Afghani, American etc from these God awful fighting arenas were to come back and walk past you do you really think they would Say " Yes it is getting a bit serious NOW?
One life lost is one too many. It is pointless and leaves other lives in turmoil.
Look into history if you want to see if aggression ever really solved anything.
Lovely man that he was, it shows we have our values warped when the death of a crocodile hunter becomes the number one item on Sky News!

The value of human life is same whatever may be the nationality. Why the media is making such hypes, when it comes to the life of an American or British soldier. Are they super human?

I agree with most of the answers on this page except "ONE".
why can we thank George bush and tony Blair for this war did they fly the planes into the trade buildings NO! did they set them selves round London in trains and buses so as to kill and injure hundreds NO! but then you could argue the fact that had England not followed America to war then London would not have been targeted,,,,,,,,,,,well if truth is known yes it still would have happened, because who did America follow to war to deserve attacks on the world trade centre and the Pentagon and almost the white house,
so yes the war is serious but don't place blame on people looking after there country.
"a soldiers job is to protect in times of need and to fight in times of war. well there is a war and in war people get killed its part of the job"
