Well, since remakes have become a trend, and adapting TV shows is getting popular and the craze of Comic book movies.Hollywood tend to make money only. But that doesn't mean they don't churn up classics anymore.I mean,we do have those Oscar caliber films at the end of the year,or those indies or the films that got acclaims from Film festival which are never considered for wide release. There are classics even nowadays. It's just that ,they slip out of your radar due to limited releasing.More focus is put on Big films or films that are likely to make money. So,it's Hollywood's judgement not its movies. And don't even think of compairing Bollywood with Hollywood. What kind of idiot would bring that up?
But recently, low budget, artsy films are becoming bigger success, and proving that people are not as dumb as Hollywood thinks. And films like Little Miss Sunshine, are becoming more successful than those mega budget films.

I think, they're doing it too much.Too many dumb movies are made to earn a few bucks. They should limit that ,and release them after a while. Not continuos dose of Blockbusters.Like the Pirates of Carribean sequel, they should release more movies that are independent, and less movies that are targeted at bigger audience. So,they could make profit either way.

Even so,those bad movies are far far superior than Bollywood trash. That person is a numbnuts, who brings Bollywood into this question. That's outta the question!!

They seem to have run out of new ideas and keep doing remakes of old series etc.

I'm sick of Hollywood. I want to watch British films again. We used to have a good film industry over here many many years ago but its all Hollywood now and I don't really want to watch endless films about the trials and tribulations of being a Yank because I'm NOT a Yank and I don't identify with them.

The last Hollywood thing I watched was Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (its Hollywood made, but 90% of the cast seem to be British!). Its probably the last film I'll go to the cinema to see for a long time until something interesting comes out. I'm not holding my breath.

They're being made in Japan, Korea and Hong Kong. Check out Battle Royal, Old Boy, Ring, Ichi The Killler ... if that fails buy the Sopranos on DVD - better than any hollywood gangster film in the last 10 years.

completely agree. 10% of Hollywood video clips presently are any sturdy. yet we interior the U.ok do not watch our own video clips, and heaven forbid we watch a foreign places language action picture. Hollywood desires a renaissance, i won't be in a position to bear in concepts the final sturdy action picture I observed from Hollywood. yet then I nonetheless watch pleanty of action pictures. for this reason what reason do they could desire to grant high quality in the event that they're nonetheless getting my money. Untill cinemas start up showing possibilities - notwithstanding they could be. won't be in a position to look ahead to next action action picture: with the loose cannon macho guy who bosses each and every person around and is amazingly violent yet in way that each and each difficulty justifies. Who additionally meets a woman midway by way of and beats each and all of the percentages and wins the day. Ever see Arlington street? did not persist with Hollywood formulation of the sturdy guy triumphing. Very pertinent in those circumstances too. The Grudge? maximum suitable horror action picture forages using fact it did not persist with any Hollywood policies. i'm going directly to lots, yet greater variety may be favored, instead of the comparable tale advised in 7,000 distinctive contexts.

It seems to me that all movie directors these days are concerned about either trying to make blockbuster trilogies such as Lord Of The Rings or remaking old hit films to actually care about the viewing public and our views on what will and will not make the money in the box offices.

There are only so many ideas out there before they are all played out. Most movies coming out today are remakes of movies made forty years ago, and today's generation think they are new. Movie makers are even bringing comic book ideas to the big screen, just because they can't come up with new ideas.
