Consider this, my friend ... can a test tube of spunk cuddle up to you and keep you warm at night? NO. Can some drunken old letch in a bar provide you with a supportive shoulder to cry on when times are hard? NO. The point of marriage, oh cynical one, is that two people who are truly and deeply in love make a commitment to honour and respect each other in equal partnership. Sometimes marriage goes horribly pear-shaped, but it's nice to think that there are happy endings out there ...

Uniting in marriage is not just for procreation and temporary company. It's a union of love bound by trust, love and respect for each other with the premise of growing old together. The key word here is 'together' while sharing similar values, hopes and dreams. You just can't find this bonding at an IVF clinic or in a bar filled with (some) shallow people who are in a place to mingle while drinking alcoholic beverages.

Many people think that marriage is the ultimate bond between you and the person you love. Personally, I think it's just as well to cohabitate (live together) because it's cheaper (because you don't have to pay for a wedding) and easier if you break up (you don't have to go through divorce papers and soliciters).
People marry because it's traditional and a "next step" in their relationship. It is easier to go to an IVF clinic and a bar but people sometimes wish for a proper family where your partner is the parent of your children and not some random doner.
