if x is 0 then tan^-1(y/x)=pi/2 or 90* because tan90*=indeterminate or infinite
so theta=90* or pi/2

If x is almost 0 then tanΘ is very hugh and then is Θ near 90 degrees.
If x=0 then Θ=90 degrees., since tan(90degrees) = infinitive.

It is important to note that y should NOT equal 0 or infinity in the case when x=0.
If the above is noted then theta= tan^-1 (infinity)
Note that the asymptotes of f(x)=tan x occur at multiples of pi/2 radians(or 90 degrees), then
theta = k.(pi/2)
where, k= +/- 1, +/- 3, +/- 5, etc.
in other words odd multiples of pi/2 for Z(set of positive and negtive integers)
Hope this helps!

In math we get around division by zero by letting x
approach zero. In this equation, of course
tan(theta)=y/x. If we imagine an angle of a triangle getting
larger and larger , we see that the tangent(opposite over
adjacent) getting larger and larger also. In this equation
y is opposite and x is adjacent. So as y gets larger, x
gets smaller and the ratio increases geometrically. As
x approaches zero, y/x approaches infinity and theta
approaches 90 degrees. Right at 90 we have a hypothetical triangle with 2 right angles and a zero degree angle.

The answer is simple...the ratio of y/x when x is zero is infinite. From the definition of the tangent you know that the tangent is infinite at odd multiples of pi/2 ((2n+1)/2)*pi/2, n=0,1,2,...

so Theta = ((2n+1)/2)pi/2

Please review your trig and convince yourself this result is correct.

tan theta= y/x
if x=0 tan theta = infinity
so theta = pi/2

tanΘ=y/x
therefore as x=0 tanΘ=infiniti
Θ=pi/2 or 90*
