would like to know your thoughts about love relationships between cousins, first cousins once removed, uncle-niece....as to what I know, different religions have different rules...Catholics do not allow cousin relationships, Islam allows up to first cousin relationships but not uncle-niece, Judaism and South Indians (Tamil Hindus) allow uncle-niece relationships...my opinion is that if such a relationship is allowed within one's religion, then why should other people still judge them even when they know such relationships are accepted within the religion...have a Muslim friend who had a relationship with her first cousin but the whole family made a big hoo-ha out of it just cos they didn't like e whole idea and prevented them from seeing each other when in the first place Islam allows up to first cousin marriages, so what's e biggie?why the fear and prejudice??am curious to know what you people out there think about an issue like this??

My thoughts... simple. It might be moraly right or wrong, and I couldn't care less. The thing is it is not genetically correct. One's cousin still retains a 25% of your same DNA. When getting married to a cousin, you're supposed to have children, and sharing such high percentage of genes, the probability of deformities, deficiencies, etc, is very high. So hence the fear and prejudice: it is kinda unnatural.

Though it is wrong in other cultures. The point is, love is love.Once u feel something 4 1 another,it's hard just 2 let it go like that.A cousin is not my immediate family, like a real brother/sister. Somehow, somewhere along the line this thing needs 2 be fully adjusted in some other aspects.Love relationships within the families are rare. So,I think it must be allowed at some stage, but ppl mustn't take advantage of it.It must be a true dedication & commitment.

I think it depends on the situation. Provided they did not grow up in a family type relationship which could be likened to incest.

In terms of cousins marrying, repeated intermarrying of cousins gives rise to problems if there are congenital diseases.
The European Royal families intermarried and passed on a disease called purplerosis which lead to mental health problems and purple pee.
In the Pakistani muslim community in England there is a problem with a skin disorder called EB which can be life limiting.
AS there are high levels of intermarriage of cousins the risk of children having it is much increased.
So if it is a one off marriage between cousins within a family who don't have a history of congenital illness then i don't see that it is a problem.

My opinion is first cousin relationships is not bad. If they are in America, I hear it is illegal in some states. Not here in Kansas. I think one of the presidents was married to his first cousin. I also feel it is bad for a neice and uncle to have a relationship because this is the neice's aunt's husband. First cousins is okay but not uncle/neice.
