Well you should check their FAQ page... This is what they say:

"The more research required to find an answer, the higher the price you should set for your question. Three-quarters of your question price goes directly to the Researcher who answers your question; the other 25 percent goes to Google to support the service. Setting a price too low to compensate for the time required may result in your question not receiving an answer. The more you are willing to pay, the more likely your question is to get answered quickly. "

Your question will be answered by a Researcher. They are searching the web to find the answer to your question and they have great skills in doing that...

No It is not free you have to pay for that. Yahoo Answers is much better than Google Answers.

After you place your question you also post a price tag for it. That means the person who gives you a satisfactory answer receives this money.

If the price is high then a lot of researchers effort to give you a good reply, if price is low it can remain unreplied.

it's free. unless you want to be philosophical then it's not. considering that you have to pay for your internet provider, cost of your electricity, cost of equipments. your time spent. hehe then it's not free.
