Was watchin a film, Name of the Rose, set in Italy, french director, scottish, american and other actors, German producer, so what country is it officially from? What do they use to define each film´s origin?

The country where the production team is based.

I think it's about the production. If The Name of the Rose has a German producer, it's in all likeliness a German film. That said, they're not that strict in Europe, my tv guide constantly names many countries after a film title.

i thinl the director and the producer who are making the film decide the country of origin. .... but im not sure...
