Is there a special Insurance available to cover the cost of deployment accidental or otherwise. I have heard of horrendous costs, and the more bags per vehicle the more likely one will blow.

The Airbags in newer cars are less prone to accidental firings than older cars as the technology is constantly being refined . I personally would not worry about the cost.. better safe than dead. I have a car that is 13 yrs old and the airbag has never misfired.

Insurance does cover the cost of air bags it was State Farm that campaigned for there use. Bodily Injury and death have been reduced not what the car looks like. Besides now when 6 to ten bags deploy in a front collision with roll over the car isn't pieced back with used parts like they once were. I have driven one million miles 10,000 at race track in air bag cars and never crashed two bags each car five or six cars. There was the time another sleepy driver came across the median in west Texas combined speed would have been horrible Just missed me by inches. That's why I do not disable my air bags. Most of the time curtain bags deploy both sides at a time the violence of crash the air bag control can blow all of the bags and manufactures will not even tell mechanics the logic or amount of force needed to set one or all off. National Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in VA. are the leading air bag exploders and testing people. Non governmental agency responsible for safer car cabins in crashes. The side benefit to the 45mph off set crash energy absorbing front ends on cars that cannot be repaired after a 45mph hit.

first, this is not true-a computer controls them and their dpoyment-even the rate they inflate. what you also need to consider is that If the srs system was deployed, you will have to also replace: the srs control unit, the deployed airbag/s the impact sensors that signal the areas whre car was hit,---eg. car hit at front passenger corner, deployed both front airbags and passenger side curtain---- you WILL HAVE TO REPLACE---both airbags, pass side curyain airbag, both front impact sensors, the srs control unit(the computer) any wiring harness damaged as an assembly(you shouldn't repair srs wiring) both seatbelt pre-tensioners,and any other srs component that was involved in any way---SO the answer to your question is absolutely---and don't forget all other mentioned stuff too!!! as for the insurance,if you have full or comprehensive coverage all parts and repairs are normally covered after your deductible--and yes,the costs are horrendous by the time the srs is restored to proper working order-if you are buying a car that has been in a collision,dont-just walk away.

Yes, if you really afraid of the incident of bleeding of the head.If you are a daredevil, just never mind this, like me, as Airbag costs a large sum of money. To me, as long as you follow the safety rules and do not speed, its fine not to have it at all

Only if you plan to enter it repeatedly in demolition derbies. Having the airbags deploy on their own is extremely rare, and collision insurance will cover it if they deploy in a wreck.

Absoloutly not. they are covered by insurance anyway, if you won't have full coverage and it's not your fault, the other insurance will cover it. they don't deploy "accidentally". If they did, every auto manufac would have ther pants sued off by now.
The costs have also come down now,, that was about 5 y ago.

they are not going to go off unless your in an accident and your insurance will cover them, but its better to pay for them and be alive after an accident rather than not pay for them and be human vegetable

No it shouldn't be considered. Just about all cars have them so there's no getting around it.
