I know first hand that it is very frustrating...Believe it or not, it gets much better! I've heard that soft classical music or white noise works wonders. Good Luck!

The other answers are pretty good too but here is something else to try. Your baby should be eating baby food by now right? Well give him/her a jar of food plus a bottle right before bed time and make sure that its belly is full then try to lay her down in her crib while you are sitting right there beside it maybe rubbing back or tummy or singing. But slowly move towards the door every night. So that maybe you can get her away from needing you to be right there when she goes to sleep. My nine month old doesn't have that problem thank goodness. I hope you can find something that will work for your baby.

Your baby might be teething--which will cause a perfectly good sleeper to become a night waker. Try giving them baby night-time formula Orajel. If you think he's in a lot of pain, give him Tylenol.

Your baby might be hot/cold with the changing of the seasons. I thought my 7 mo old was teething (and he his), but I figured out he was waking up all the time because it's recently cooled down a lot here. So I've put him in a warmer outfit and he sleeps better.

Your baby might be sleeping too much during the day. Cut out one nap in the afternoon, or keep the baby awake for at least 4 hours before bed time.

Your baby might be missing you-- Be sure to play with him a lot before he goes to bed.

Over all, try to be as BORING as possible when he wakes up in the middle of the night. Talk in low-quiet tones, don't turn lights on, don't play any music, don't be overly-lovey-dovey, don't play, etc. Eventually, he'll learn there's nothing to wake up for.

Try bathing the child in a baby bath of lavender just before bedtime, then rock the baby to sleep...Also try feeding more during the day, especially the last bottle. Change diaper more frequently.

It sounds harsh, but try ignoring her for a bit. Many babies wake frequently in the night, and given 5 - 10 minutes will put themselves back to sleep. When mom goes rushing in to comfort them they quickly learn that nightime isn't sleep time, it's play time. In some cases your child may be genuinely hungry or wet, and it's best if you meet their needs as quickly, quietly, and with as little light as possible so that they learn it's time to sleep, not time to play. The other suggestions in these answers were also great, so I won't waste time reitterating them.

Hi

one reason the baby may be waking up is that he/she is seeking comfort. Try placing a piece of the mother's clothing in the cot/bed with the mother's scent on and this might just work and reassure the child (be very careful that the item can't become dangerous e.g. smother the baby or twist round its neck)

well my baby is 6 months and i was goin through the same thing but what i found out was that my baby was sleeping 2 much throughout the day naps are good but not 4 most of the day becuz then baby will get its days mix up and we dont want that now would we hope this helps good luk

Without having all the info it's hard for me to know where to start so here it goes .. Does your child but herself to sleep at night or do you rock/feed her to sleep? If you are feeding her or rocking her until she falls asleep then putting her in her bed she will more than likely continue to get up in the night looking for the same comfort she went to bed with. It's so hard giving up rocking the baby to sleep I know I sure loved that time with my children but in the end it is better for them and you. So if that is the case you need to stop that and start working on her going to bed on her on. Your daughter should be awake but drowsy when you place her in the crib.

Wait till they turn 1 year old. All babies do that. Well at least the 19 I have raised anyway.

Before putting the baby to sleep boil some water with an herb called Horchata..its something like chamomile....it relaxes and induces sleep ....Its natural and besides its very healthy no caffeine
