You must be in another part of the UK to me! Over the years I have often found that the weather improves for a little while once the kids return to school, but by the end of September when it changes it is normally more drastic. Having said that I believe the majority of people have very short memories where the weather is concerned, especially relating to good weather. Perhaps as English people we are too used to expecting bad weather?

Firstly, our previous hot weather was caused by an intense heat wave, which unuasually occured earlier than in past years. This provides the idea that summer will be long and hot.
Our rainy August constradicts this and causes temperatures to seem cooler.
Usually, as have occured in past years, the first few weeks of September tend to be pleasant and accompanied with sunny skies.
But I tell you now, it won't be enough to effectivly sunbathe if that's what your after. Unless a freak heat wave occurs.
Have a nice day!

Yes, here in Canada, summer seemed to come to a screeching halt. Rain and 13 on Saturday, sunny and 15 yesterday. Looking ahead, there are some nice days coming where the temp will be in the mid 20's, but I think summer has left us for 2006.

Thank God for that!
I've been stuck indoors during all that ridiculous heat we had all over July and most of August as I damaged myself quite badly by collapsing when I went out in it three times (I also looked a bit daft carrying a brolly!) Anyway, today's OK isn't it? Just right for me (though ideally I like a pleasant drizzle on a temperate day, am I weird?) However, I do live in Eastbourne on the south coast and you may well have had it not quite as damned overhot as we had it down here where you may be situated.

I'm in the UK as well and there is NO chance of getting even a day of hot, sunny weather. It feels like autumn, all of the leaves are coming off the trees.

No not hot but expect a Monsoon Season 2 start here in the UK in the coming years.
Global warming has screwed-up the Seasons!

We have been promisied an Indian Summer, but then again we were promised a red hot August, and ended up with Monsoon rains instead, so don`t hold your breath. Mind you it is a little warmer and dryer today, so maybe we will get some warmer weather.

Yes, summer has gone where summers go. Fall will take it's place and those that enjoy the less hot days will be back out to play. It's their turn to enjoy the day. Summer will return in time and those hot days of summer will chase those playing back in doors.

Its starting to feel more and more like autumn every day and with the nights getting longer I'd say that the chances of us having a really hot day are dwindling rapidly! I'm not feeling negative about it thought I really like autumn and winter getting all cosy at home in the evenings in front of the fire, big comfy woolly jumpers and lets not forget Christmas!!

No, I live in N.Y. state and we always get an "indian summer" in Sept., I bet its not quite over just yet, altho its been so humid and stagnant(the air), some nice cool crisp, fresh air would not bother me. Right now its damp and about 60 degrees far. I don't know if you guys get that last heat wave in the UK.
