As I see it used on here all the time; does it mean lazy?

I really must stop this habit of being facetious.

I was under the impression that 'cuz' was a fore-shortened attempt at the word BECAUSE.

In answer to the second part of your question - yes it is pure laziness - but then since we live in the age of mobile text messaging - then I suppose that the modern generation, who have little or no appreciation of the English language will continue to use this fore-shortened version - much to my annoyance.

It means 'because' and I quite like it. It isn't a 'proper' word but it is now in common usage. Personally, I have no problem with people shortening words and coming up with new ones. It makes things interesting.

I do have a problem with people not spelling things properly because they can't be bothered to check or not expressing themselves clearly - and then getting annoyed when others point this out. Language is a powerful thing and should be used with care.

You, by the way, have expressed yourself very clearly. Thank you.

It's an abbreviation of cuzkhjgasfurbu. It comes from an African tribe and is now used by many young people. The exact meaning is unknown to all those over the age of twenty and will never be revealed by the young people as they fear being understood. If they were ever understood they would not be able to say 'You just don't get me do ya cuz ur old'.

If enough people use it the word will find it's way into the dictionary. I find people who cut down words are the ones who text a lot on mobile phones.

I have seen the word cuz used for cousin and because when I get text's from my son and my niece when asking about her cousin or telling me why they have to cancel something.

The spell check doesn't recognise cuz yet. lol

It's not a word, rather slang. I've called my cousins "Cuz" at times; however a lot of people use it short for because. It's not a sign of laziness; it's just embracing slang, which is culturally important.:)

I use it all the time for 'because'.
The only reason I do it is 'cuz I rarely say 'because' when speaking. Few people do.

...I'm sure my sophomore year English teacher shudders every time.
