I had the same problem when I became pregnant. My three year old still wanted me to hold her. So when she did I would sit down on the couch or in a chair and let her climb up in my lap when I could. To her it was still the same thing and it was less stressful on me. But of course there was still times when I did have to pick her up. Remember though to lift with your legs bent. Don't bend at the waist to pick your child up. That could hurt your back. Just be careful and don't over do it.

Look, lady, you have enough trouble as it is being pregnant, what are you going to bars and trying to pick up 3 year olds now? Stick to someone your own age, and slow down, Trixie!

Ask your Dr.
If it is something that you did regularly prior to becoming pregnant then it shouldn't harm you or the baby.
You'll know what you can and can't do. If you try something and it hurts stop doing it.
Just because you are pregnent it does not mean you are disabled :)

Yes, being pregnant doesn't make an invalid of of you. If you experience physical problems, consult with your doctor.

picking up children, is different than objects like boxes or moving heavy things, just be careful with your back, bending knees and such like.
it will just upset them if you don't, just don't over do it, speak to your dr , they will tell you the best way

Yes, just be careful and don't overdo it. You will know yourself when you cant manage it anymore, usually later on.
