I mean, the guy practically made a career out of tormenting animals onscreen to score ratings points. I feel terrible for his wife and family, but wasn't there a point when somebody should have stepped in and said, "Enough is enough. You're asking for it, guv'nor." ????

I know it's a loss to all of us, but shouldn't somebody who supposedly knows so much about critters have known better? I'm sorry, but I had to stifle a grin when I just thiis minute read about it. I keep going back to the South Park episode, and that's exactly how I'll remember Stevie.

Ah...the Darwin Awards...

Yes, I would give him a nomination. Though his death was somewhat fitting of his lifestyle. Guess it was better than dying in a car crash.

Apprantly he learned all the information he knew from reading books, because he didn't attend much school when he was young. Now wether that is true or not I do not know.

I don't think he tormented the animals. He was always very gentle with them and seemed to know what he was doing. Think about it . . . could YOU pick up some venomous snake without it going crazy and attacking you? Most of us can't do that. Sure some of these animals and handled got pissed, but most seemed calm when he was holding them . . . showing that Steve knew what to do and how to do it. Again, it's not as easy as it looks. I know if I picked up a baby crocodile or a vemomous snake it would bite my head off.

The man died living life. Enjoying life. Which is more than most of us will have to say. Sure it's a dangerous job, and no, he didn't have to do it, but it's what he loved. It's a hell of a way to go too. Me, I'll probably have a heart attack because of all of my unhealthy eating, or I'll get into a car wreck. Who knows. He lived a full life, it's sad he had to go, but at least he got to go doing what he loved.

I think someone worthy of a darwin award would be someone who sits behind a computer all day doing something they hate, just to get by, rather than pursuing a career they love.
