I'm assuming you are in the UK, things are different in the US.

Go and have a couple of lessons with a qualified instructor. Then get insured on your boyfriend's car because you will need to practise, practise, practise.

The more you practise the more chance you have of passing your test. It's not easy at all believe me. They will fail you for all kinds of silly little things like not driving in the bus lane when the sign states that you are allowed to for example. You need to really know what you are doing before you go to test. Get your theory test done because that's very easy and then just spend as many hours on the road as you can squeeze in.

Good luck to you!

The type of car doesn't really matter as long as you've got a large area to practice in. I've never known anyone who used an instructor so I cannot say much about them. Everybody I know learned from family or friends and it seems to work just fine. You need to practice a lot before trying to drive out on public roads. Good luck.

Well that's a new one on here - learning to drive.
You should save up first or get enough dough together for a few lessons at a time so your not forgetting the first lesson you took.
It's all down to money these days and they are making it harder because there are so many cars on the road nowadays.
Once you have got the idea properly you should ask your family to let you have a go somewhere that;s legal to be on the road - like private land.
Good luck and don't be put off if you have a mishap - just try and try again till you get it right.

BSM (The RAC driving company) do some good deals, and they offer simulator sessions as well as driving properly so you can gt the feel of a car without the danger. You need to be insured to learn in someone's car, so that's quite expensive, you're better off learning with an instructor then you don't pick up bad habits either.
Good luck!

yes from personal experience by all means hire an instructor
it is one thing for a father to teach a child to drive and quite another to teach a peer that you have a relationship with especially if the car being used is a daily driver and the only one in the household.also it is best to learn stick first the reason for this is once you have shifting skills there is nothing that you cant drive/move if an emergency ever arises[once learned this skill never goes away] good luck and be safe and responsible

Get regular lessons with an instructor but if you're temperaments can handle it also practise a lot more often with your bf. Number of driving hours makes a massive difference to your ability to drive.

Go with a instructor, you'll learn more and won't pick up any of your boy friends bad driving habits.

An instructor is best. They are used to teaching people who are complete beginners.

Use a professional instructor. There are certain techniques that they can teach you so that you learn faster and smarter. They also don't teach bad habits either!

An instructor is best, they are used to beginners. I never advise any family/partnet to teach driving - it causes tension and arguements and will put you right off.
