My 13 month old had a spot of the projectiles last night. The area was cleaned immediately with warm soapy water but it now smells to high heaven.

Clean it with 1 part biological washing powder (or liquid) to 10 parts water - the enzymes are the key ingredient here so it must be biological. Once it is dry apply a mixture of 1 part surgical spirit and 5 parts water - this works with cat pee/poo/puke so I'm sure will work for baby sick.

I've had trouble like this. The various tips others have given will help to some extent, but the one thing that's thoroughly effective is sunlight. You need to get the sofa outside, while we still have some sunshine left.

I wouldn't bother taking the advice about getting a new sofa. Get your old one clean and don't replace it for a couple of years when the projectiles are well and truly over!

Let a cat pee on it?
The only thing is try to drown the bad smell with another strong smell - and after a while both smells are gone.
I have read something about putting the sofa cushions on (freshly mowed?) grass - but I have never tried that.

bicarb tends to help but i would suggest lemon and vinegar in some warm water with a little soap.. only use small amounts of each though.. air the room and once dry give a good blast with the hoover...

Use oust - available from the supermarket. Spray it on and away you go. It really does work by destroying the bad bacteria that cause smells.
