Just about anybody can be a finalist on poetry.com.
I always get emails telling me I am.
It's a con.
Sorry. Best of luck elsewhere with your writing. Try entering established and reputable competitions for your work. Have a look in your local library for details of local competitions and events.
But please DO NOT get suckered in by poetry.com. Please.

Sorry, but Poetry.com is a scam. I know someone who submited a poem that was all nonsense, not even real words and was a finalist. Everyone who enters apparently becomes a finalist. It's just a scam to sell their poetry books.

Sorry to say, everyone is because it's a scam. Someone I know wrote a poem once about how dumb poetry.com was, and to their despair got a letter saying it was a finalist, and would they please let them know if any corrections were needed?

Several times over, got a couple of books from them with my stuff in it, and they had a voice-artist read my poetry on a CD, and sent me a silver cup engraved for achievement. They generally make their money off the poet rather than the audience, playing to your vanity.
Consider that poetry is not often a money-maker. Publish your stuff yourself and enjoy.
I do my own website, and its just fun.
See below, if interested.
