Perhaps start by visiting one or two beauty salons, introducing yourself and saying what your project is and discuss with the receptionist what you both think are the most important points. Make notes and sketches then come home and design your own.

The things I would look for/be interested in would be: First impressions - is it smart-looking and professional? Does it make you want to be there? Is the colour scheme calm or jazzy - what might work best? Is the waiting area comfortable? Is there literature to read while waiting? Refreshments? Accessories for sale?

no good websites, just something that I saw in 1 of the salons that I used to go to.
Have a reception desk about 8 feet from the front of door.
Have plenty of seats for people waiting.
Make sure there are lots of reading material.
Offer drinks for clients. It will make them feel really special.
Have 2 reception desks, but attached to each other.
If the budget allows, have another computer for appointments where stylists work so they don't have to go to the front to schedule appointments

Look, ahh does your mom or dad have any ideas for receptions? Or just googlesearch-Beauty receptions and see what comes up. Hope this helps! Bye!
