Yes it is controlled

How much? About 95%. The only reason it is not 100% is because Bush's attempts to get his hands on PBS last year failed.

Why? I have concluded the media is controlled by the rightwing after paying very close attention to CSPAN debates and similar live political activities then testing them against what the media reported. Every single time, the media leaned to the right, left out major facts and sometimes only showed a republican soundbite commenting on it later.

You might want to read the transcript to the Vatican Ecumenical Counsel II There is a section called Social Communication. In this section they discus the profit advantage of buying TV stations. And starting a Broadcast Masters program at various Catholic Colleges.

Bottom line They decided that if TV had more sex and violence then more people would sin and pay for forgiveness and join the Church visa vi this sin they had committed.

When I first heard this I thought it was a fabricated insanity. But I found the Record of Vatican II at the Library looked it up and Whammo those guys are in the sin business.

As a second study I looked up the qualifications of program directors at some of the biggest TV stations (New York LA etc. ) It was significant how many attended Catholic Colleges like Fordham and Loyola

Of course it is, the mega conglomerations that control everything, the only reason we get to see 'some things' is they compete with one another. They are over and above our Government, Bush is 'them' they finally got into the drivers seat, Before they were manipulating behind the scenes. To name a few of the companies that are intertwined one way or another, they are:

Rupert Murdoch (publishing), Viacom, World Com, Texaco, Exxon, Mobile, Carlyle Group, Halliburton, Kellogg, Root & Brown,
CSD/Dyn, Gilead Pharmaceuticals/ Thats a few, they are corporate coalitions of Fox, AbC, CBS, NBC , CNBC, MSNBC, They just compete for ratings, we get only what we are supposed to see. They don't care anyway, it's the MONEY. They own Hannity ,Limbaugh and Jon Stewart.etc, they employ them and now, of course, the Supreme Court Justices

Controlled? Of course it is.

It is controlled by a myriad of writers, editors, newsreaders, reporters, and of course publishers. The majority of these tend to be left-leaning but there are a few that can only turn right as well.

If you mean centrally controlled. Not a chance. The press is very powerful and very free here. ANY attempt to control it is met with distain and legal action. The NYTimes is a great example; they publish things even when they have been warned not to. The current administration has tried threatening them and what happens? The story is immediately in the paper...along with whatever the administration wanted kept quiet.

Your question is a bit vague, but I believe you are asking if I believe that the media is controlled by the US Government. If that is the question, then no.

The media loves to make ratings by laying into the government. However, they are controlled by their corporate owners who are driven by only one thing: profit.

What? media control in the land of the free? You are joking right?

No, there is all kind of media available in the US, you can watch whetever you like. no matter you political, religious, sexual or social beliefs, there will be something for you to watch and enjoy.

However, if you are talking about mainstream news media, then yeah. it is designed to get the americans to think firmly inside a little box called republicrat. so that you will believe that there is a difference between the democrats and republicans, and you will fight amongst yourselves to ensure that the republicrat party remains in power forever. whereas, in reality, they both work to the same agenda. The democrats remove the rights of the right-wing christian groups, the 2nd ammendment gun owning freedom lovers, and the republicans are removing the rights of the freedom loving liberals and libertarians. The entire population is being funneled down a zig-zagging funnel to fewer and fewer freedoms into a country hypnotized to love a corporatized, branded celebrity-endorsed fascist state.

The corporations have the best news media they can buy. and they, as advertisers to and and shareholders in the mainstream media, can put pressure on the news media and they do exersize censorship power over the news networks. Look up monsanto and growth hormones in milk.

Also within Government and intelligence circles, pressure is brought to bear on any story that would undermine the false democracy that exists in the US. For example, why has it taken 5 years for it to become 'official' thet the NORAD and the FAA timelines of the attacks on 911 where contradictary, even in the 'official' account. they disagree. yet we are supposed to believe every aspect of the official account of what happened?

I am not advocating conspiracy theories here, in fact quite the opposite to the extent that until all the unanswered questions within every conspiracy theory (including the official theory) regarding the attacks on September 11th 2001 can be suitably answered, then we do not know for certain what happened that day or what role the government, intelligence agencies in the US and abroad, and others played in the way these attacks played out.

The US media is happy to pretend that the matter is settled. Despite the documented and well known fact that the Bush family is up to it's necks in business and other contacts with the Saudis and the Bin-Laden family. There are many established and thouroughly documented links between US, UK, German, Pakistani, Israeli and saudi intelligence agencies and the Al-queda-mujahadeen fighters and records of our funding, arming and training terrorist groups even inside the USA, yet we are supposed to believe that the Bush's and their political allies (who have for years documented their intention to create 'multiple theatre wars' that would require a 'new pearl harbour' type event to get the public's support(look up PNAC)) would not and could not have had any pre-warning and could not have acted to prevent these attacks given the most expensive and sophisticated defence systems on the planet?

The discovery channel has aired many many documentaries about how the CIA create and run 'psy-ops' programs including the creation and manipulation of terrorist groups to undermine and overthrow enemy states and to manipulate populations through the use of fear and terror. It is one of the CIA's main functions, yet the media would have us believe that 'there is nothing to see here'!

Despite the German Government admitting that their security services warned the Bush administration (in the days ahead of 911) that attacks by people who where in a terrorist cell based in Hamburg, Germany, where going to take place on the 10th or 11th of September 2001 and the targets would be the Pentagon, Washington and the WTC, The US acknowledged this warning and asked the Germans to keep quiet about them. The media remain silent.

And for over an hour on that morning a large passenger airliner was able to zig-zag accross the country and crash into the Pentagon??? the media have not once seriously asked WTF? HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE??? the average American is taxed until the pips squeak to pay for a military defence machine that completely failed on 911, and yet the guy in charge of that air defence system on that day was, within a couple of months, PROMOTED to joint chief of staff. WHY??? Why has FOX and CNN and NBC all been so quiet about this sickening oversight? in a country where McDonalds can be sued for serving a hot pie that slightly burned someone, a man in charge of the air defence system that failed leading to the deaths of thousands, get promoted? and the media doesn't ask questions? why is that man not in PRISON for criminal negligence?

The 5 different defence exercises were taking place diverting aircraft, FAA staff and defence staff at NORAD, some of which under the directorship of **** Cheney, (a member of teh neo-con group that authored the PNAC documents), that simulated attacks on new york and the pentagon by hijacked airliners and fake attacks by Russian bombers over the Alaskan airspace, and the administration had the bare faced audacity to suggest that "we could not stop them because NOBODY had thought that anyone would use airliners as missiles"? a bare faced and demonstratable lie! yet the media ignores this fact. We KNOW it is a lie and the media allowed condi rice a free pass, and it continues to this day.

The media are NOT interested in truth or in being an upholder of democracy, or holding any administration to account. they are the promoters of corporatocracy pure and simple.

The Media is full of the old Hippy Protesters from the sixties and seventies.
They were little rich kids who then went on to college and became journalists and college professors.
