Where values held by a society can contradict each other.
E.g. Having the right to freedom of speech versus the the right to have freedom from persecution.
Many democratic values are often compromised such as freedom of choice (to vote) versus the desire for full participation in voting (compulsory voting) which negates the right to choose not to vote.
