I do have a "baby brother", who lives back home overseas, and is currently sick. When the women called with an urgency for my PS2 set I was selling on a local classifieds,(supposely for her brother), I went thru thin and thick ( you wouldn't even believe if I told you everything), to meet her needs. Day later she put stop on a check she gave me.I do believe in God and Law. The check has her name and address ( the bank that issued check is a local), and she answers her phone (but hangs up on my voice). My bank told me to go to police... but what would they do? I am not as much after her money ($80+ banking fee for returned check), but I would like to show her the feeling of being played. I live in GA, not sure could she go in jail if I file with a police. Any advices or what would you do? Should I let her pay for her part or live by :"What goes around, comes around" and learn from my mistake? The hands of God or hands of Law- (she had expansive car, so she needed no charity).

Whether she had an expensive car or a beat-up jalopy doesn't matter. In essence, this woman STOLE from you. It may or may not be a police matter in Georgia (different states have different laws/rules and it could be viewed as a civil matter) but by all means you need to take action. First go to the police department to fill out a report. They can tell you whether or not you should go to your courthouse to file a small claims case against her. The cost for filing the claim may amount to close the same amount that she owes you, but that charge can be added to the amount of the bad check. Whether she shows for her court date or not, it's almost a given that the judge will award you judgment. It goes on from there, but the courts can help you as to what you can expect and what you should do next.

Do NOT let this woman get away with this. If you do, you're just allowing her to do the same thing to others that she's already done to you. And some other person may have food taken from their child's mouth because of her deceitfulness.

Oh come on man. She played you for a fool. So either accept that you're a fool, or show her you're not. There are plenty of ways to get back at her, though the law route is probably the nicest. Go to the police, lay a complaint, and investigate what you can do as far as punitive measures concerning her credit are. People like this need to be taught a lesson. Teach her one, and maybe the next guy won't have to be ripped off by her.

You MUST go to the police. Putting a stop payment on a check after receiving the goods is the same as "kiting" one; writing a bad check. You can ask the police to go talk to her "investigating"; it may be enough for her to at least give the unit back.

After that you can file a small claims action against her.

What a ******. It's people like that that make the world a bad place to live in. What she did was commit fraud. You have the stopped check as proof. Go to the police and ask them if they could send someone to talk to her, bet then she'll pay. she stole from you. I mean, the money isn't even the really bad part, it's the trust lost, I know allot of good average normal people who would never dream of doing anything like that. you have my sympathy. For her, the DA could charge her with fraud. Go to the cops first, and ask them what they think. C.

Call the police. Also, take her to small claims court and add in your attorney's fees. If she doesn't pay, her credit report will be messed up and the court can freeze her bank account until she pays you. I do it all the time when clients don't pay.

WOW! She screwed you, the best thing is go to the police.. you need to teach her a lesson.. writting checks like that is illegal!!! she will go to jail. isnt it a felony ? you better go to the police fast, if she does that to you she will more than likely do it to someone else stop her now and make her pay.. or just take her to small claims court.

Report her to the police It is theft. How ever you do have all the information you need with that check to just take the money you are owed.

You call the police, they file charges, and the DA as part of the court case orders her to repay you the money.

What part of call the police do you not understand.

report her to the police. If you win a judgement take the judgement immediately to her bank and get you funds before she has a change to move it.

Go to the police. If she did this, she needs to pay you and any penalty.
