Yes, I know. His wife is under sedation at the moment in Mackay Hospital, his children are in shock.

A great Australian conservationist, humanitarian and a great mate to all he came into contact with.

Early days yet, but I think his memorial service will be held on Bribie Island, Queensland, just north of Brisbane, 20 minute drive from Caboolture.

Vale Steve Irwin.

I have a hard time dealing with idiots who ask questions like that. It just shows how truly moronic some people can be.
Steve Irwin did a lot to educate people on how to deal with wildlife.
He will be missed.

PS Yes there were times I found him annoying bubbly lol!

Stupid way to put it "wouldn't you love to see...." but otherwise there was nothing "spooky" about it. Every time we watched one of Steve's shows, there must have been 10,000,000 people saying, "one of these days"...

I guess it was inevitable that something was going to tag him sooner or later, or perhaps just the slowdown of his reaction time as age creeps in. (I'm not as quick at grabbing that beer out of the fridge as I used to be....)

But he did a lot for animals, conservation and public consciousness and he truly will be missed. My 12 year old will be up in an hour or so, I have NO IDEA what I'm going to say to him...........

Yeah it is a bit freaky. Also a bit of a let down that it wasn't a croc or a shark or something typically dangerous. Definitely a freak accident too, had it hit him anywhere but through the heart he probably would have lived. Thank Mother Earth it didn't!!! (sorry to his fans but I couldn't stand the wanker!)

Heard from the news that he got stung through the chest by a sting ray when he was diving in the great barrier reef while fliming of a documentary show.

Like to watch his show alot.

i will never forget the image of steve irwin talking to the camera while sharks were in a feeding frenzy all around him while he stood in the water...the guy was a crazy kook but he was fascinating, funny and very entertaining...i kind of felt one day his luck would run out the way he took risks dealing with wildlife but i would never have guessed it would take a stingray to be the culprit....my condolences to his friends and family....he was one of a kind and his legacy will continue as his shows run on animal planet

It is so sad and my heart goes out to his wife, children and family. It is just awful. He was the guy you loved to hate but he had a kind heart and he truly loved all animals and creatures. He had an amazing infectious love for life and not many people truly have that. I hope he is at peace knowing he died doing what he loved best. xx

I really respected him for his love of animals and nature. Not for his common sense. i mean he took his child up to a crocodile, my gosh. but I admire what he did for nature, He will be missed. He died doing what he was devoted to, and to what he loved to do. He got stabbed through the heart by a sting ray. Go to yahoos home page to read more.
