Actually there's no fixed date for the beginning of hinduism. The Indo-aryans who came to india in 1500 B.C. are said to have brought the vedic religion that believed in hymns and yajnas. They also absorbed some of the features of the religion of the native people whom they called the dasyus like the worship of mother goddess. The vedas, the religious scriptures, are said to be the oldest literature of the world and were composed from 1500 B.C. to 600 B.C. Slowly this religion became known as the brahmanical religion on the brahmans, the upper caste. The vedas divide the society in four varnas or castes : Brahmans , Kshatriyas, Vaishyas and Shudras. Due to the various rites and rituals of this religion, people started getting rebellious and so, due to this widespread agitation and control of the brahmans at all aspects of life a new religion, Buddhism, sprang up with birth of Gautam Buddha in the 6th century BC about which i mention below. By the advent of the gupta age in india, the real phase of hinduism evolved. It was revived by Adi Shankaracharya in the 9th century AD and religions like Buddhism and Jainism began to lose charm. Most of the rites and rituals of the period of Shankaracharya continue to this day. However, many are corrupted forms of this rites and rituals. Hinduism has spread to many parts of the world like Indian sub-continent where it originated,Indonesia , Central Asia, East Indies, etc. People even find links of the aztecs and mayans with Hinduism.
Buddhism originated with the birth of Gautam Buddha in 6th century BC. It was a new religion for the people of india who were burdened by the rites and rituals of Hinduism. So they readily adopted this new religion. From India, Buddhism spread to the Far east(China, Korea, Japan), South East(Indonesia ,Malaysia), and perhaps to Africa. Kings like Kanishka, Ashoka the great played very important role in its spread.
Islam began with birth of the prophet muhammed in 6th century A.D. He was revealed the Quran in a cave in Medina. Quran, the religious book, is the base of Islam. It contains all the laws and principles of Islam. After Muhammed came series of four caliphs who are also known as the Rashidun or the rightly guided caliphs as they were elected. After this, caliph system became hereditary. The Ummayads and the abbasids helped in the spread of Islam. The Ummayads ruled from 684-750 A.D. and the Abbasids ruled from 750-1258 A.D. These were all lines of caliphs. They spread Islam rapidly to the whole of Central Asia, India, West Asia, North Africa and even Spain.
I hope that's enough.
