Carlito's Way is like Scarface Northeast LOL.. just PAcino isnt as much a scumbag in Carlito's way as he was in Scarface. It's an ok film, nothing amazing. Everyone talks about "Classic" and "Great" when refering to Carlito's way, thats bullshit LOL. Great is The Godfather 1&2, great is Goodfellas, Great is Mean Streets, Great is The Untouchables, Great is Pulp Fiction, And Great is The Usual Suspects.. those are GREAT Crime Dramas.... Carlito's Way is a good popcorn film, but it is in no way shape or form a Great or Classic film. People like it so much because of the Violence and the thuggery LOL, thats it!

Carlito's Way is a 1993 gangster film based on the novels Carlito's Way and After Hours by Judge Edwin Torres. The film adaptation was scripted by David Koepp and directed by Brian De Palma. It stars Al Pacino, Sean Penn, Penelope Ann Miller, John Leguizamo and Viggo Mortensen. The movie's soundtrack, "I Love Music", was performed by Rozalla.
The two novels on which the film are based follow the exploits of Carlito Brigante, a fictional Puerto Rican drug dealer and hustler, who goes to prison and struggles to go straight after his release. The 1993 film is based on After Hours (it used the title of the first novel to avoid being confused with Martin Scorsese's 1985 film After Hours) and focuses on Carlito's endeavours once he is released from prison with the help of his lawyer.

It's an excellent movie. One of my favorites with Al Pacino. It also stars Sean Pean as his lawyer and John Lugiziamo (spelling) as a mobster.

I have, It is good if your into dark mobb films. Check it out. Al Pacino is a great actor, he's the main character. There's a few other great actors in it as well.
