I would imagine (and hope!) that child abuse is actually a very rare phenomenon. However, because the Internet is such a widespread medium, if you go looking for the stuff then I suppose you can find it.
There is no evidence either way that watching porn makes a person more likely to go and act it out for real - it's equally possible that watching porn means the person doesn't actually have to go out and do it to get his kicks. I imagine the true answer lies somewhere in-between... some people are driven to commit these crimes regardless and nothing, except a prison sentence or a bullet through the head will stop them.

I don't think that child abuse is as widespread as the media would have us believe. As far as the internet is concerned, I think that it is simply the case that there is now a very convenient means of publicising these perversions. I don't think that there is much chance that porn of this nature would make most people inclined to go out and act on it - the majority of people are aware that porn of all types is abstract and fantastical - it's only the few (who were probably already nuts to start with) who can't discern between fantasy and reality. Most child abuse occurs within the family network and predatory paedophiles are quite rare, for the most part I think that this *threat* is just another media scare tactic to control people and sell more papers.
You definitely can report anything you find like that though. Just ring your local police stattion, they will have specialists trained in the matter who can help.

Yes it's worrying.
In the same way as UR average Porn watcher demands more degrading/new stuff.
Pervs R the same, yes unfortunately some is filmed by themselves & shared around.
It's disgusting that the Net has been hijacked 4 this sort of thing.
But it's an ideal tool 4 sharing the Filth around & so far has proved difficult 2 Police.
Hopefully they will B able 2 1 day soon, huh?

I would like to think that child abuse is not widespread but then again you never know. I can only say that thankfully you can block these such sites so that your children can surf the net without the worry of them being exposed to seeing porn or such things that might be accesible to see. Yes i should imagine if you come accross porn on children or others then report it to the police and hopefully they will get results to have it removed of the net.

if you encounter any obscene or offensive material on the internet you can contact the internet watch foundation who work very closely with the police and other agencies monitoring the internet (www.internetwatchfoundation.com) or just type in the internet watch foundation.
these people cover the whole internet, and whilst it is always a good idea to contact the police it can be difficult contacting the right people and you end up going everywhere whereas these people are like a one stop shop and will deal with it all, the best thing is not to go anywhere near these sites as isps are obliged to report users using these sites as the have automatic filters that can detect users going to any of these sites. if it offends you report it as this is the only way to close up these sites

Yes. The content of the sites show us how widespread child abuse is. And worse yet, we're only seeing a glimpse of how widespread it is, since some other Asian countries have not been fully connected to the internet, so we don't know how large exactly is this rather lucrative flesh trade.

Yes, and I am glad that it has been banned now. I don't mind people getting into consensual BDSM, if there are safe words and such, but forced sex, especially on children or family members is just plain wrong.
