Like most things, it comes down to the 2 Ps: profit and perception.

Corperations have no desire to curb greenhouse gases because they are making too much moiney putting them out there.

And the gub-ment won't do anything until the people demand it, and since so many people don't 'believe' the data, they feel no need to listen to the scientists. What do we know?

By the way, here is my speach I give to non-GW people:

The US must ratify the Kyoto protocal, being the first step toward doing something about this global problem which we are cheifly to blame.

CO2 is 30% higher than it has been for 650,000 years. Methane is 130% greater. These are two of the main pollutants humans put into the atmosphere in excess, and they are two of the primary greenhouse gases.

Look at the 'hockeystick', which shows a dramatic warming since 1950 after a fairly stable climate for 1000 years. In fact, the 10 hottest years in recorded history have all happened since 1990, with 2005 being the hottest, and 2006 is shaping up to maybe break that record.
(see links below)

How's that for proof of man's fault in this? There is ample proof, any real scientist will tell you that.

There has NEVER been an article doubting man's influence on global warming published in a peer-reviewed journal. A recent study of almost 1000 proved that.

Yes, the earth naturally heats and cools, but the rate and amount we are warming now is unprecedented in the recent geologic past. We are doing this, and we must stop it. This is not some political statement or rhetoric. This is science trying to educate a crass, ignorant public of the damage they are doing. The magnitude of temperature increase ALREADY is about 10x that of the 'little ice age' of the middle ages, and rate and amount are only going up.

Just to be clear, glacial and interglacial cycles are mainly controlled by astronomical fluctuations, but we have a detailed record of the last 7 cycles, and what the climate and CO2 is doing now is way different and extreme. The rate of increase is much higher than in the past AND the value itself is much higher.

global warming is a big deal the only way to recover from it is to take the 3 billion cars in the world and make them run on either hydrogen or ethanol i think that cars that run on oil can run on ethanol too but some parts need to be changed and all industries have to stop emmiting harmfull gasses into the air i think 100 billion dollars should be enough to make 10 million cars in california run on ethanol the only thing that needs to be changed id the tank and some components in the engine thats a start right?

Yea...

There is actually, signs of it going on. It's been having signs since i believe 1989 or something, so it isn't totally because of our generation making fossil fuels.

There are connections like maybe from the old times, to nowadays, many process has been made to get our new technology. Using these technology will hurt nature.

So, it's not like only in 2005-2006 had just made the technology. Not just us.

And yes, scientist has been complaining about the issue. In some governments, like China's have alreaday been planning things for the future. Others' like America's, Nothing is being done but studying from scientist, i think. Forgot, this issue was like made last year or something. Anyway.....

The worst times, aren't just for humans. The polar ice caps are melting. A lot of polar bears have been waterlock. They can't swim. Which the ice breaking and only leaving them in the middle of nowhere, it's gonna make them die. Animals, Humans, plants.

It's going to affect us a lot.

There is not a way to go back, just like a glass being broken. You can fix a bit of it, glueing together, but if you put water in it, maybe some water will leak out. It's not going to be fixed prefectly. If you go back now, the next generations will not have to suffer as much.

And as for those who say Global Warming isn't an issue or a true event. Listen to this.
1. Polar ice caps, Melting..
2. oZone layer, breaking, cause more heat.
3. Temperature, Extreme rise in temperature!
4. Winter, Less snow, almost not even twice a year last year.
5. Increase in floods, China had a 1 story house flood!!!!
6. Increase in storms, Everywhere.....

Forget it, if you don't want to care, don't answer this question, okay?

For all you that are helping right now. Thankyou. I'm a vice President of a club online. called Cte. Changing The Earth.

Right now, the club is still in progress. But still working. The President of Cte is looking for new members and helpers in the positions spots. The Website is http://www.changingtheearth.piczo.com

And for me, i'm not an outsider, but i love nature. I've been a part of nature. If you people that answered that it doesn't exist, well, you're way wrong. It does. And for you all that still argues and continues harming it even more than us who do care, then wait and see who dies first. I believe those who did way many things wrong, die painfully and earlier. I know this is silly but i've believe that, whatever goes around comes around.

Please, everyone, This is a serious event going on. I used to be a computer hogger, leaving it on throughout the night, i'm reducing it now. I only have it on when i use it. Even if it's only a 10 minute break, i'll shut it down. The computer takes lot of energy. The more computers on, the more damage. My friend, who is Chrissi, is the President of Cte. She used to have it on 24/7. Now, you go on yahoo messenger, she's never ever on. I haven't talk to her online since 2 weeks already. She goes on the comptuer just for working on cte, on homework, and rarely chatting. She's caring for the earth.

Even if there is only one person left caring for everything, fine, one less means one less. It's better than one more.

And i know that the earth will extint someday from the dying sun. But, i want it to last until the sun dies, not the earth itself overly heated....

Sorry for the long.....answer here...lol

Global warming should be a concern to all of us. The earth is very old though it has been through several climate changes thought time, I believe that the earth would heal it self. Green house effect is needed b/c without it our earth would be very cold about five degrees w/o the green house effect.

GW is a reality
There have been world summits to tackle the problem but there is little progress with the developed and developing countries putting the blame on each other
sometimes businessmen take priority over scientists

OK, there is evidence of global warming due to burning of fossil fuels, not entirely by this generation. the industrial revolution gave it a good kick start.

But what is the question? The governments are hogtied by big business, who pollute the air and make the gas guzzlers.
when big business gets their acts together and it's profitable, they 'll do something.

NO SUCH THING AS GLOBAL WARMING. It's a bunch of big fat bull and there's no proof of it besides "scientists" speculations.

The truth is we are seeing signs of the Last Days and of the Second Coming of Christ.

Go read Revelations in the New Testament of the Bible.

global warming is phenomenon of rising temperature on earth. the heat coming from the sun is being filtered by layer of ozone in the atmosphere. but due to pollution in earth, this layer is being open and more heat is being coming to earth. Major pollutant is chlorofluorocarbon from refrigerators and air conditioners. Besides these other are called green houses gases from industries. The earth temperature increases, the balance of earth life will be adversely affected, it will be a hard place for all living beings. heavy rain, severe summer, no winter, melting of all glaciers, rise in sea level, rise in atmospheric temperature are the consequences
