If they were Phoenicians, then they were Secular Jews.

If they are Arabs then they are the brothers of the Jews.

The Bible explains in Genesis some of the reasons why all these ancient tribes like nothing more than killing each other.

A big part is Abraham had 4 sons they all wanted the inheritance. Isaac got it. That left Ishmael Medan and Median a bit upset.

Four sons 4 countries Turkey and the Armenia Kurdish people The Persians, Saudi's and Jews. Four religions all claiming the same God. Christian Armenians Sunni Muslims of the Northern tribes Wahhabi of the Southern Saudi. And Shea of the East and Persia which the other Muslims consider a cult.
