wow they are both brilliant actors... if i had to choose, i guess I'll go with Al Pacino..........

There is a lot to be said about the varied parts offered actors.
However, because of his portrayal of so many varied roles, from the Godfather to Scarface to a Scent of a Woman and many others, I would have to say Al Pacino.
Tough call...The best actor of all time was probably Humphrey Bogart and yet, there were roles and parts that Bogart ended up with that made Bogart look bad.
But, when Bogart was good he was great and when Bogart was bad...he was even better.
It all depends upon the role/part which has a strong influence as to who the best actor is and who you like.

Are you kidding? We're talking about Pacino and Deniro here. Deniro is up there with Brando. Pacino is a sniveling blowhard. Deniro stomps all over Pacino. Still, all their names end with "o."

deniro! pacino is great, but deniro really dives deeper into a role than anyone else, and you can see all the sweat and blood and pain he went thru for authenticism's sake. in raging bull, he embodied method acting more than anyone before or since(brando included, although he established it), took it to a whole new level of authenticism, and re-established it the way chuck berry invented rock guitar and jimi hendrix re-invented it! to this day, no one, but his closest friends, knows deniro's true personality...but we know his craft! what better proof is there than that?!

I like them both.
Robert de Niro for "Taxi Driver" of course
and "The King Of Comedy" and "Analyze That"...
and so on and so on....
Al Pacino for "Heat" and "The Scent Of Women"
and that somnambulism-movie(1) with Hillary Swank...
I like both of them — Thank GOD there are good
movie-actors in America nowadays !!!

That is such a close call. I have to give the slight edge to DeNiro. I love them both so much. Heat is one of my all-time favorite movies.
