firstly don't be scared. You can do nothing about a problem if you are hiding in the closet.

Leave a note, if this ghost is interacting in the world you live in....that means it can atleast see what it's interaccting with.....leave it a note, tell it what you expect since you are living there. If it breaks your ultimatum arrangement...get a little more serious.

sit in the room you think is the most active. Light a single candle, and throw a little Morton's salt around you in a circle (It's Koshur) Whether its there or not physically it will hear you. again state your words and be assertive, this is your place...you pay rent or you have bought it....if it's going to remain...you want a little rent kickback.

Still you feel awkward in your own place? Consecrate it.
Head to your local incense store pick up some dragon's blood, hematite or some other dark stone, ignite the incense and let it burn, baby, burn. Leave the hematite somewhere in the open. Once you are certain there is haze in the air, throw something you value as a protection over each window or door--any entrance to your place. and then dispose of the dark stone properly by way of.....somewhere outside your house. Feel free to say a few things along the way, anything ya' want.

Try it and see if you feel better the next night.

Clean your house. Then go buy a sage stick (at an occult store or wherever), it is a bundle of sage herb. Light the sage stick and walk around the entire interior of your house counter-clockwise (Don't forget the insides of closets as well). This will remove all negative energies and entities.

However, now you have created a vaccuum, so take some water in a dish. Put a few fingerfuls of sea salt into the water. Stir clockwise whilst asking (God or whoever it is that you pray to) to bless the water (this is how "Holy Water is made btw).

Walk around the interior of your house CLOCKWISE, and sprinkle the water with your hand, around the house. Think positive thoughts while doing this.

Light some regular incense (preferably something like frankincense, myrrh, lotus, or sandalwood) and walk around the interior of your house CLOCKWISE, spreading the incense smoke around. Think more positive thoughts and ask your God/dess to bless the house and protect it.

Repeat monthly. This should take care of it.

When someone dies, it's normal for them to move on, as they say. If they do not, there is a specific reason. Example?

When someone commits suicide, they want death; their perception of it being, that's it! Case closed! The show's over! Problem is, when we die, we simply change form. So this poor soul will often replay the suicide over and over again in an attempt to release themselves into nothingness. They end up linked to the suicide location and never leave.

The same thing can happen if a person is murdered or if they believe, "This is my house and I will not move!" In the second example, they make life difficult for someone who has moved into their home because they think you are the squatter.

The point of all this is, you need to find out the "why" behind the haunting. Once that is established, then you can help this person move on. Then...

Do some of the things suggested in the answers to this post. Once that energy has left your flat, there will be residual energy left behind. In this case, I would "smudge" like the North American Native peoples do. Go out and buy some white sage. Take a piece of it and light it on fire. Once it starts burning, blow it out. It will continue to smolder and make a beautiful smelling smoke. Fan the smoke over everything in your flat while you are thinking or saying out loud that you want any attachments to leave. To be sent "up" and "out" with the smoke. Once you've smudged "everything!" your flat will be clear.

Research into ghosts has uncovered different causes. It
could be someone in the home, having problems, and their
spiritual energy is causing the disturbance.
It could be an elemental type, or other such being. Or a lost
soul.
People do all kinds of hocus pocus. But banishing a spirit to
hell, can cause a violent reaction.
I usually ask God to handle it, because He knows what the
situation calls for better than we.

Hi Scotia,
Dorothy S has the right idea.... you have to make a circle of salt around the outside perimeter of your house. Ghosts are like snails... when they cross the salt, and dissolve. After you do the salt thing, have the house blessed, and if any ghost appears after all of that, you will have to physically (out loud) tell it to move on, that it's not wanted here.... It will not waste any more of your time. Good Luck....

some good advice in the answers.especially housebunny.
you do not need to be afraid most ghosts are don't know that they are dead and just continue their existence as if they were still alive.so talking to it letting it know its physical body is dead and its time to move to the light will usually work unless the ghost has some strong attachment to the house.
then it is time to kick it up a notch (the advice of housebunny comes in here). if that doesn't work then consult someone from a new age shop to help you. call in a priest if that is more comfortable to you

First of all: don't be scared. A gost is nothing more than a magnetic field. I don't know what is going on in your flat, but I felt once my house was haunted and objects were moving and so on. I painted and wallpapered all the walls and ceilings. After that it no longer happened.
Good luck!

I grew up with my great grandmothers ghost in the upstairs bedroom. And then when I moved I had the ghost of an old miner I called Bob.

Luckily for me we learnt to live alongside each other.

However, I would find out as much as I could about the ghost, in my experience it is better to accept it and live along side them. I was able to do that.

Although, if you can't id seek professional help. Or try Ouija and ask the spirit to leave.

I have done this many times and they don't always go, I have never had one turn nasty yet. Or you could try talking to your spirit guide through the Ouija and pendulum.

A Priest can't do anything you can't do yourself.

I use to live in the basement of an old famhouse. When i moved in there was this dresser with the last name of the previous renter of the house. I recognized the person who lived there before was a relative(had same last name and rest of their family still owns the wheatfields behind it) of this one kid at school who i disliked. So i scoffed and was like "F*ck the (im not gonna put the real last name in) "

Well a couple weeks later i would get chills feeling like someone was watching me, with hatred it felt like. I lived in a very big room but it felt like it was coming from outside the door, from the darkness of the basement bathroom. A couple weeks later i would hear noises from my stuff "falling" to the ground off of my dresser... but the stuff would be clear across the room about 20 to 25 feet. away.

One night i woke up from my sleep i felt this freezing sensation on my back and as i turned around i saw a man in about his thirtys to fortys glaring at me. I was scared as ****. Imagine a highschooler hiding under his bedsheets, i bs you not. I lived with this for three years, with my stuff still being thrown across the room, my family not believing me telling me it was because my dresser was cluttered, but the stuff was clear across the room.
After about a year of living there i found out that the previous renter had commited suicide! and was an uncle of the kid at school that i didn't care too much for.

The only other ghost i had encountered was at the Pike Street market in Seatle, no one else saw her, i didn't get the chills from her though, and i didn't even know that Pike Street Market was haunted, i thought the squaw traditional dress lady was just a shopper and i didn't believe my classmates that there is a Female native american spirit there. I do now though.

Sorry i mumbled on and on but never told you how to get rid of the spirit, if it doesn't like you i would just move though

Don't be afraid. Ghosts won't hurt you, but your fear can cause you stress. You know, it's possible that your ghost is a blessing. After awhile you will get accustomed to sharing your living space with a ghost, trust me, and you may find that the spirit is a protective companion.
