What if the tRNA recognized and attached to tyrosine instead. Would the protein still be functional. What consequences would it have on the organisms.

asparagus!!!

perhaps you meant asparagine.
the effect this would have would depend on a lot of things:
where the amino acid is in the protein
If it occurs in a functional or structural domain
what the protein function actually is and how important it is to the organism
if the mutation is just a one off or if it is a germline mutation

asparagine and tyrosine are relatively similar so there may be no effect on protein structure or function or perhaps just a reduced functional level.

it is difficult to give definitive answers without knowing more about the circumstances

I don't know whether you mean asparagine or aspartic acid but in any case the result would be detrimental.

Usually there are more than one codons and therefore more than one tRNAs for an amino acid. However if you mutate the tRNA that recognizes one of the codons that correspond to asparagine so that it carries tyrosine instead, then all of the proteins that have such codons in their corresponding DNA sequence will have a tyrosine instead of an asparagine in those positions.

Asparagine and tyrosine are NOT similar and therefore most probably there would be a big difference in the structure and function of the protein, especially if there are more than one residues mutated in the protein.

Since such a mutation will affect most proteins in the cell it would be very difficult for it to cope with the effects and adapt;so it would die.

The protein woulf fold in a different manner as the electrostatic forces and other non-covalent interactions would be affected.
