3 times now when I have closed a page that says Can Not Be Displayed (or Find Server), and immediately Internet Explorer starts opening page after page after page, up to 75 pages before it stopped long enough to let me close a group. It would let me close a group just to open more and more till I finally got off line, and restarted my computer just to make them stop coming and close. It took many tries to get off line and re start my computer as if it were frozen. WTF??
Is this something I can fix my self or do I need a professional?
Thank you all for any help you can offer.

For a home pc sometimes it is easier and faster to reinstall than to look into every symptom of malfunctioning.

Here is a check list

1) You should back up all important information from your computer to a cd/dvd
2)You sould be in possession of a genuine copy of windows software (it makes life easier when you are online)
3) You should possess one good commercial antivirus software of your choice.
4) You should possess cd/dvd of any other programs that you frequently intend to use on your pc

You should get a formatting and reinstallation done when your are ready with the above prerequisites

Then install and update all softwares.
There are additional software that you can download from internet for free, once if you are through with this.

additional free software to be downloaded from internet
1)windows defender from microsoft
2)AD-Aware SE personal from Lavasoft.

Enable Firewall, and autoupdate features of windows.

These are the things that ensure smooth and troublefree running of your pc.

You definately have a virus, trojan, or malware. I agree with 'Cutie' dont waste your time with AVG antivirus. Go to http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/default.asp and run the online scanner, it may or may not be able to remove it but it might tell you what your computer has. Then download a trial or beta version of Norton Antivirus or McAfee Antivirus. Run the install, then run the updates and do a full scan again on your computer.

You have some sort of virus/malware by the sounds of it. Download spybot and run it, and install an antivirus such as AVG Free.
