If you are an experienced reptile caregiver, a water monitor which can get almost as big as a komodo dragon, and look like one too. But they need a large living space with a pool of water for them to swim in. Inexperienced reptile handler get a green iguana. They wont have a bonecrushing bite and a gentler disposition.

a russian glass lizard, or russian legless lizard (same thing) they get about 5 ft long, are really friendly, and unusuall. they eat crickets, nightcrwelers, and some canned dog food, but be carful with the dog food, mine is alergec to it.
