One must remember that mass production is sustained only through mass consumption. Mass production makes goods more easily and cheaply and therefore more affordable.

If one were to stop purchasing things that you really don't need the economy would switch to loser gear. Mass production would be on a much smaller scale thereby increasing the cost of production. Cars would no longer be for the masses only the rich would be able to afford it. We would have fewer jobs too since there would be no need to hire so many workers.

I've experienced this difference first hand in India. Before adopting the free market economy Indian's weren't too affluent and hence never bought many goods. The scale of production too was much smaller than it was today. If one wanted a motor cycle then one had to wait about eight years. Not many people could afford motorcycles then anyway. There were not too many jobs back then and the only job you could find was in the government administration of the armed forces.

India now had embraced the free market economy. Production has increased and most people can afford a motor cycle while the upper middle class can afford a car. Jobs are in plenty with gleaming new factories coming up to cater to the increasing demand. What a difference !

Of course one musent waste money on things that are not useful !

Its a lot better if you have the free market economy. Loll !

If we quit spending we'd have moremoney to save. If we had more money to save the, the bank woud have more money to lend to new business. The economy would grow granted the the business sold things we need.

The freedom to waste is a part of being free. No saying I condone waste, but I condone the right to waste.
