I mean comon. They have hit 2 homeruns in their 2 previous at bats. and the other team thinks.. hmmm lets pitch to them again, and also lets try NOT to pitch around them.

but when it comes to Barry Bonds he gets only 1 pitch thats decent when he is at bat. if you watch him everyday you will see this. But Puljos and Howard and Ortiz still get pitched to everyday. even after 3 homeruns in one day. WHY?!!? not to mention how bad bonds had been doing. i just wonder how Howard and Puljos would be hitting if they got pitched the way Barry gets pitched.

With Pujols and Howard, you're really taking chances but with Bonds, you know he can hit any pitch out of the park at any given time. Bonds isn't in a slump but it's because everyone's been pitching around him and so he doesn't have anything to hit with. Imagine what pitchers (or cowards as I call them) will do next season when Bonds goes for the all-time record. These pitchers shouldn't play baseball if that's the only way they're going to play. The coaches need to change their mindsets. It's baseball, let's have some fun. If Bonds hits the ball out of the park then you need to teach and train your own hitters. Baseball used to be a man's game, now it's a coward's game.

They don't pitch to them more than they pitch to Bonds. Since the All Star break, Howard was intentionally walked 16 times, Pujols 8, and Bonds 6. (Yes, Bonds has about 1/3 fewer plate appearances). Bonds and Howard have the same number of unintentional walks -- probably mostly because Bonds rarely swings at pitches out of the strike zone. Pujols' relatively low number of intentional walks (still higher than Bonds') is probably influenced by Scott Rolen (who walked 3 times yesterday).

Are you saying Bonds can't hit because he never gets a good pitch....and Pujols, Howard and Ortiz hit good because they've hypnotized every pitcher in the league? That's a tall claim, no offense. Seems to me that Pujols, Howard and Ortiz are simply better hitters these days than Barry Bonds, no matter what is being thrown at them.

Ryan Howard is looking like the next Bonds (not in the field)
I wouldn't pitch to him with the game on the line

Albert Pujols been doing what he doing since he stepped in the L so I guess pitchers are on something silly. nuff said

The simplest answer is that pitchers are often doing what their manager and pitching coach are directing them to do. And whether you pitch or not to a good hitter depends on a large number of variables, like the current score, inning, baserunners, pitcher health, who's in the infield and outfield and so forth.

What you need to remember also is that even a guy who's hitting .400 will NOT get a hit six times out of ten!

Because they don't have the reputation that Bonds has yet. Also, they have a little more protection in the lineup. They are also not as selective as Bonds, who only swings at good pitches. If they had no one hitting behind them, they'd be walked a lot too.

Also, I think that a lot of pitchers walk Bonds now because they don't want a cheating, arrogant, steroid-freak to break Hank Aaron's HR record. And don't give me that, "There's no proof that he did it". Come on. Everyone around him has been arrested, and his trainer, Greg Anderson has gone to jail three times for Bonds. He's obviously hiding something.Yeah, it's also normal for a guy to slug .863, .799, .749, and .812 from ages 37-40. Nah, Bonds is all natural!

because he has hit far more homers than they have, and the pitchers do not want to be the ones that give away his next homerun, if pujols or howard got that far than the pitchers would walk them too

Because Bonds is the most feared hitter in baseball (All time).
