If you've pulled a sickie already what excuse have you given? If you haven't done it yet then you had better get your skates on. Your bosses will know you have just been out on the lash and whatever you do tell them they will have to believe you anyway unless you totally f*ck it up. Sickness/Gary glitters does not work. Be outlandish, say the family dog has gone missing in the middle of the night and you have to trudge round the local area looking for it because your mum/granny is beside herself. Say you will take it as an emergency holiday if needs be. Nobody actually believes sickie excuses, if you canny handle going out you shouldn't do it. Lightweight!! ;o)

That's not ethical... but best is if you attribute your 'sickie' to a chronic illness that will go away after some rest. Such as being an alcoholist. You know, you drank too much last night and now you need to recover. People will accept this excuse for the next time as well. The only thing is that you have to be an established employee so they will not think of firing you because of your drinking habits.

Can't argue with bangalor belly, although an inner ear infection could keep you off work for the week if you are going to pull a long term sicky

I would just say you needed an urgent doctors appointment, if they ask why. Say, I am sorry but id rather not discuss it. If they insist, tell them you have lower ab do pain and you had to go up the hospital to the Gyne ward and they gave you some pain relief and asked you to go back for a scan later in the week.
They can't argue with that and they cant check because of patient confidentiality.

Take 2 days off with whatever you come up with, seems a little more valid that way.
My best yet was I was visiting a friend in Orkney and the ferries were cancelled due to high winds and tidal times didnt allow ferries to leave until the following morning. Absolutly no come back form that

Actually you don't have to give an excuse-employers are legally not allowed to question a call in. Just say I can't come in today.

Female problems if your boss is a male or the 'splats' if your boss is female.
With the second one I'd take two days off!!
