I saw the Tom Hanks film yesterday, and i must admit i did not pay too uch attention through out - then i realised i never saw why he was wearing one red shoe! Does this ever get explained in the film?

i havent seen that film in years , yes it is explained somewhere in the storyline , but it was really dumb .........

It is right at the beginning. His buddy, the character played by Jim Belushi, plays a joke on him. He ends up leaving the house with the two different shoes and the FBI guys at the airport notice the one red shoe and assume he is an operative of some sort.
