I believe it is so very sad for Australia to have lost such a great person who cared immensely for endangered sea and land animals. May he rest in peace. My thoughts go out to his family and friends

i will never forget the image of steve irwin talking to the camera while sharks were in a feeding frenzy all around him while he stood in the water...the guy was a crazy kook but he was fascinating, funny and very entertaining...i kind of felt one day his luck would run out the way he took risks dealing with wildlife but i would never have guessed it would take a stingray to be the culprit....my condolences to his friends and family....he was one of a kind and his legacy will continue as his shows run on animal planet

It's been 2 days and I am still heartbroken. Anyone who stopped 2 watch the "crazy guy" learned something about animals. He had passion. I cried during the Diaries episode when his beloved "Agro" died. He sat there holding this huge croc and let his true emotions show as he cried and mourned the passing of one of his favorite crocs. He also brought his dying dog home from the vet and slept with her on the floor until she passed away. THAT is heart! We should wish we had that much heart or passion for anything. I feel cheated that such a wonderful, unique person has left us. God Bless his wife and children.
RIP Steve

For everyone who thinks he deserved it...wow. He was helping animals who couldnt help themselves. He is a hero for taking such risks to help defenseless creatures in need. I hope i can make such an impact on just one other person in the same way that he has made an impact on me. He was such a great guy and will always be remembered as a hero.

What a bummer! I'm really very sorry for him, his wife and children.

I have friend in Saudi Arabia was crying when she heard this. I was not exactly a "fan" per se but couldn't help feel the sorrow of someone so young losing his life in such a strange way. Sad.

It is very sad, He was a wonderful colorful charactor. I can't say I am suprised becasue of the way he lived.
He left two kids and a wife. I have a feeling they will carry on some of his work.
At least he died doing what he loved to do, not many humans have such passion in their work or get acknowledged in their work world wide.
He just seems way too young to be gone.

At least now and on important anniversary dates, it probably will rake in more money to the zoo. I was surprised when I saw it on the front page of Y!. He was great always made me laugh, I also learned a lot from him too.
I wish the best of luck for his wife and two kids, I could only imagine how hard it is for them.
RIP Steve Irwin

Me and my family are very saddened by it. He was a person who truly loved and respected animals. And while he died doing what he loved, the world has lost a true icon. I think his death will be a huge blow for the Austrailian Zoo. But I think things will carry on in his honor.

Yeah, I always kinda thought the guy had a bit of a death wish, or got a perverse pleasure out of beating death. I feel for the family, it's the ones left behind who suffer the most.

I think it is such a sad thing. He has a child and a wife, and he was just doing his job, which he loved. I am so shocked! I just can't believe he is dead.

It was unbelievable news! I never thought he would go that way you know he was mostly around crocs who knew Stingrays would be the cause of his death. I respected him immensly and he really opened up to the world the many truths about crocs!
He died a happy man, since he was doing what he loved to do the most!
