first I thought it was the tires, I replaced the tires and I did the alignment and it still shakes. It shakes when I accelerate at about 35 to 40 mph. When I release the gas pedal, it goes smooth but once I step on the gas pedal starts to shake again. Does anybody knows what its going on? I have pontiac grand prix 2000. I really appreciate all of your answers. I really need to know what its going on! Please help!!!!

sounds like engine mounts, but it will probably relate more to your fuel system. It sounds like a hesitation problem, it may be your fuel pump going weak, or burning out. BUUUUUUUUT!!! you should first check the spark plugs. One of them may be cracked or just burned out. Take them all out and smell them. If any or all smell like fuel it will be your fuel system. other than that whis will the first, easiest, and less expensive way to trouble shoot your dilema.

My bet is a broken engine mount, this is the joint between the engine and the body of the car, and there are usually three, at least, it should not be too expensive to fix

It sounds desire to me which you alternator is going undesirable or you have sludge build up. in case you have a bad alternator then pass come across a sturdy junkyard. in case you have sludge build up then attempt mobil a million that stuff can get all the sludge out, yet you will could desire to apply that for something of the automobiles life.

sounds like you may have a bad cv joint on one or both of your drive axles , after reaching a certain speed and you maintain that speed, you are taking the load of the transmission off the drive axles and the cv joint will then balance itself until you accelerate again putting the load back on the transmission and then it transfer to the drive axiles

I would say either a plug isnt firing(bad plug wire) or a trans or engine mount is broken.

i think the engine mount is lose ( the parts that hold your engine onto the car.) or it could be the transmission amount. does it chock? or shake? if it chocks then it's the transmission mounts
otherwise it could be the engine mount

If it does it when you step on the gas, it could be your transmission? I'm no mechanic, but I'm just guessing. Also could be your shocks or struts or both.
