They story (how there is a blind and deaf girl) is like Helen Kehller. But she falls in love with her teacher, and SOOO many things go on in that movie. I'd say it is quite original.

there has been thousand of malayalam movies abt blind n deaf girls and heroes tht die at the ending of the movie (deragatory comment aimed at kal ho na ho)...there was no reason for these 2 movies to have been considered as the first of the kind...because these stories have been touched upon by every part of the world before these 2 movies were released...

I hear it was an exact scene by scene copy of some black n white english movie. sorry i dont remember the name of the movie.
