Hi,
There could be a lot of reasons for this. They might be coming from your own machine - someone might have been able to read your address book through a virus.
Otherwise, it might be just someone randomly sending you messages. If you've never seen the sender's name before, then this could be true too.
To cure the problem - first go to www.symantec.com or www.mcafee.com and run an 'online virus scan', if you don't already have an anti-virus program installed. This will make sure your machine isn't infected.
Next up, if you know the sender, call them and tell them to do the same.
If these are mails to hotmail or another webmail app, you can just file them in your Spam folder - this helps the webmail service automatically detect similar mails as spam.
If you download mails from your internet provider into a mail program on your machine (like Outlook Express), you can install an anti-spam program, which you'll probably have to pay for, from McAfee or someone similar.
Hope this helps.

The virus has infected someone that you have had communication with. As a result it stole their contact list, and will likely have a list of other contacts it stole.
The virus will continue to send email from and to everyone in this list until its removed from their computer.
The really annoying part is that it will be sending mail using your address also, but using their computer.
Best thing you can do is wait till it sends you an email from someone you do recognize & then tell them.
Evidently you have virus protection, people here seem half asleep.

Get a new E-Mail. Some E-MAIL providers have evil people who sell millions of email adresses to spamers and of that like. Run Ad-Aware SE Personal. That really works =).

I use Spam Cop. Spam Cop checks who sent it and reports it back to their ISP.
As for people getting your email address, it doesn't take much. There are people that harvest websites and compile lists.
Some people, usually bored teenagers, think it is funny to send viruses to wreck other computers.
