Carolina is the best team IN LEAGUE, on both sides of ball ON PAPER. The Run, they can pass, they stop the run and they rush the passer. No other team in league can say that. Not the Colts, not the Bengals, not Pittsburgh, not Denver, not the Giants, not Seattle, none of the other elite teams. And this is on paper since noones played a reg season game yet. That said, THATS why i put Carolina 1

In order...

1. Bengals, Chad Johnson and Carson Palmer will avenge the Steelers in the AFC Championship Game. Carson Palmer has multiple targets in Chad Johnson, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, and Chris Henry. If Rudi Johnson stays healthy, then the rushing attack will also be unstoppable since the Bengals have Willie Anderson and Levi Jones at Tackle.

2. Panthers, Steve Smith. That's all I'm going to say.

3. Giants, Eli Manning is really maturing and I think he's capable of doing what his brother isn't, even though his stats aren't as good.

4. i hate to say it, but Steelers. Big Ben is back and hes ready.

5. Patriots, Rodney Harrison is back and Tedy Bruschi will be back a few weeks into the season.

6. Seahawks, the rushing game wont be as great, but they still have excellent receivers.

7. Broncos, Jake Plummer is really good, but he's going to have to
practice a lot with Rod Smith now that Ashley Lelie is gone.

8. Colts, it would be a shame if a player like Peyton Manning ended his career without a Super Bowl win. But Peyton Manning needs to stop choking in the playoffs and he needs it treat it like any other game.

9. Chiefs, Larry Johnson powers the running game and Trent Green powers the passing game. The Chiefs have the best cornerback duo with Ty Law and Patrick Surtain at corners.

10. Buccaneers, Chris Simms is better than people think he is but Cadillac Williams will lead them far into the playoffs.

Take the NFC East teams off the list, they will beat each other up all season long and whoever gets out of that division won't have anything left for the playoffs. I have the Giants winning that division with a 9-7 record.

Take the Dolphins off too, they may get in the playoffs but only because of their weak division. They don't have a receiver they can trust in big-time situations, unless McMichael becomes the next Shannon Sharpe.

The other 6 you mention are legitimate contenders, though Denver's probably a cut below the other five.

So, we need four more teams. I would add:

Baltimore - Steve McNair vs. Kyle Boller is like John Elway vs. Bubby Brister. McNair's presence will make a world of difference. This team will go to the playoffs.

San Diego - If Rivers lives up to the hype, the Chargers might win the division. They already have the league's best running back in LaDanian Tomlinson.

Atlanta - This could be a Jekyll-and-Hyde team. They plan to let Warrick Dunn handle more of the running load, but if he breaks down, then Vick will get to carry the team on his back, and this may be the year that he can do it.

Chicago - I think this is one of the most overrated teams in football, but they play in probably the NFL's weakest division and they do have a nice defense. And they say defense wins championships.

Carolina is a pretty safe and popular bet. I can't imagine the colts actually winning in the playoffs, but hey crazier things have happened. Pittsburgh got by on the seats of their pants and did not get any better over the off season. Seattle seems almost a lock for a very good game against Carolina in the playoffs. the Dolphins through Redskins are just hoping that the starting runningbacks and quarterbacks from the teams listed above have season ending accidents or don't make it on the team bus.

I think I'd rate Seattle with Carolina. Provided they stay healthy of course. Tough call between the Panthers, and the Sea Hawks.
I'll go out on a limb and say one of them will be in the Super Bowl.

Geeze, what an accident waiting to happen...

Colts get too much hype.

Denver should be higher.
