he really died! out of all the crazy venomous creatures he encountered he was killed by a stingray? talk about ironic!

I don't know really what to say. I grew up watching his show. I'm 22 years old. I've seen every Crocodile Hunter episode......every documentary. I went to Australia because I wanted to see the wildlife that he showed the world. I don't think there is anyone I would have liked to have met more than Steve Irwin. The look in his eye, his devotion, the love he had for the animals; it was unique, and it touched my heart like nothing else. I just can't believe he's gone. Rest In Peace Steve.

Yes I am totally shocked, his loss has numbed my day. I always admired Steve Irvin for knowing the behavour of animals so well + his cat like reactions for such a stocky man. I always belived that a snake would get him, but after some down time he will be right back doing exactly the same thing. Never dull.
Now my heart really goes out for his 2 young children and wife.

Yes, I was shocked when I turned on the TV this morning. Well, can't say I was "shocked", because what he did was a dangerous profession for obvious reasons, but it is still very sad. He had a great heart and personality. He loved his family, that's for sure. And he loved teaching people about animals and wildlife conversation.

i'm sure he knew of the risks even though this was clearly a freak accident. Sting rays are shy animals and most likely he accidentally trotted on one and got stung on his chest which is lethal. At the same time he would have died as a very happy chappy coz he lived his life to the fullest.
feel very sorry for his poor kids and wife. oh well but they partially(?) own one of australia's most beautiful zoos!!! so there's no income problems there.
