Does the Trachtenberg system really work and where can i teach myself it except for wikipedia? Is there any other mental calculation systems that work efficiently? Thanks :-)

Trachtenberg developed this during the world war when he was in jail
it is very effective for mental math.there is a book available in the market detailing the various steps suggested by Trachtenberg
the other system that i know of is the vedic system
